Red Knights TN 2 June 2009 Monthly Meeting
Date: June 7, 2009
Time: 11:30 AM
Place: Tommy’s Motor Sport Clinton, TN 37716
There was a large turnout at Tommy’s Motorsports for the Red Knights June 2009 meeting. We had 13 club members plus one guest.
Meeting was called to order by President Walter DeCarlo at 11:30 A.M.
1. The major topic was the 2009 9-11 Remembrance Ride. The club reviewed and voted on 11 volunteer fire departments. The VFD chosen was Campbell County Rural Volunteer Fire Service.
2. Dean Williams, a yearly supporter of the 9-11 event, was voted in as an Honorary Red Knight.
3. We talked about the new patch. After the first sew-out sample, some revisions are being made by the digitizer. Walter also reminded everyone that the club had voted to do away with “Social” and “Associate” rockers. All members can wear “Active” rockers if they choose to.
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 AM in time for the club to take part in a remembrance ride for Keith McBride sponsored by Tommy’s Motorsports. Keith was killed while riding with Tommy Norman, one of the Tommy’s Motorsports owners and two other riders. “A sad reminder that no matter how careful you ride…. you never know what all the drivers around you are doing.”
Respectfully
Sally Darnell Red Knight Secretary 009 January 4th, 2009 Quarterly Meeting #1
Location: Eagles Club Oak Ridge, TN 37830 Time: 1:30 PM Attendees: Walter DeCarlo, president/Greg Darnell, vice president/Lynn Gibson, treasurer/Sally Darnell, secretary/David Yassemdeis, ride captain/Garry Phillips, ride captain/Gena Phillips
December Minutes: Unavailable
Reports: Greg Darnell: New patch in progress. Reported company is working on it, but needed better art work.
Ride Captains: Discussed possible rides for the year 2009 and took feed back from club on ideas. 2009’s 911 ride was brought up and the need to form this years committee and meet with the Blue Knights. Attending other ride organizations rides was mentioned and the fact that if we wanted them to attend our events we need to attend theirs. Local volunteer fire department’s events were brought up and the suggestion to support them.
Treasure: No report given. New treasurer had just received 2008 books from last year’s treasurer.
Motions: Walter DeCarlo made the motion and Greg Darnell seconded it that the “social rockers” be done away with. All rockers will be active. Club voted to pass. Walter also motioned to form a 2009 911 committee and requested volunteers. Greg Darnell seconded. Everyone present volunteered and Sally Darnell was made committee chairman. Committee is open and requesting any Red Knight to take part.
Discussions: Walter DeCarlo reminded the club that in the December meeting it had been discussed and voted on that the club have only quarterly sit down meetings and the off months have a ride. Hoping that this would bring more members to the club and help all current members attend. Sit down meeting will last no longer the 45 minutes. Committees, such as 911, will take care of longer club commitments and will be a report only in the quarterly one.
New Business: David Yassemedis, very kindly, offered to help any Red Knight members with riding instructions.
Close: 1:55 PM Sally Darnell motioned to close meeting and Lynn Gibson seconded. 2007 Minutes2006 Minutes
